Life’s a Beach
The coastline down through Northern France and Belgium is magnificent and full of beaches. In fact some 40 miles of them! They’re sandy and backed by dunes. This means you can often find a great windbreak even during springtime.
The older style buildings are mainly Flemish in style, and there are bars and restaurants a plenty. Local fishermen provide the catch of the day so fresh fish is never in short supply
At Blankenberge, near Ostend, you’ll see the famous sand sculptures. You can hire a horse at the riding stables for a gallop along the sands or in the waters edge. Ostend is also famous for its artistic culture and antique shops, as well as its many fish restaurants and hotels overlooking the beach.
Try the Museum of Modern Art, the Casino-Kursaal or the Folk Museum and aquarium – there’s something for everyone!
