Ferries to France routes
The main routes are via Dover Dunkirk or Dover Calais. Dover Calais is probably the most popular but this also makes it busier at the other end and so takes more time to get through the port and town. The Dover-Dunkirk route doesn’t have so many ferries running on it and therefore isn’t so busy, making onward travel easier so you can make the most of your trip. If you're planning a touring holiday, then Dunkirk is well located for access to Belgium and Holland and certain parts of France such as the Champagne region. From Dover it's only 22 miles to France across what is probably the busiest shipping lane in the world. Dover port is the most famous ferry port in England with its many ferries to France. Dunkirk offers better road links to many destinations in France and beyond, and Norfolkline ferries will take you straight there, sailing into Dunkirk throughout the day. Their especially designed ships were part of a multi-million pound investment programme that changed the future of ferry travel. If you’d like a change from sailing from Dover-Calais we suggest you give Dunkirk a try. Norfolkline provides some special short trip offers that will allow you to enjoy a break to see local sights and grab some shopping bargains.
