Rescuing Flight Passengers:
The leading UK ferry operators like Stena Line, DFDS Seaways and Norfolkline could once again come to the rescue of flight passengers this year as the reports suggest that airport workers are soon to take part in a strike ballot. This step would put the ferry companies in a gaining position one more time after the severe disruption caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland and a series of strikes by cabin crew staff at British Airways.

 The Unite trade union recently announced that the ballot will be held following an issue over pay amongst the airport workers and a seven days notice will be sent to the airport operator BAA for consideration. More than 6,000 employees including security staff, engineers, fire-fighters and support workers at major airports such as Heathrow, Stansted, Southampton, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh will be taking part in the vote. However, BAA expressed disappointment with this decision saying, “the move will cause unnecessary concern for millions of our passengers and damage Britain's reputation around the world". The British travellers at that time chose ferries as the best alternative option to travel France and rest of Europe.
