French Destinations as Their Holiday:
Millions of Brits choose French destinations as their holiday travel. The Brits make regular Channel crossings with ferries to France on holidays and even the Channel Tunnel is an easy way to visit France. But very few people have heard about another route across the English Channel, which is proposed to be renamed as “le Anglo-French Pond”, not heading to France but the other side of the “Transmanche Zone”.
If the new map of Europe designed by EU officials is followed, it links up the southern England (from Cornwall to Kent) and northern France as one region and the Atlantic “zone” connecting west of Britain with the rest of France, Spain and Portugal as the other. There is no doubt that this kind of map designing will not be approved by those who are in favour of preserving Britain’s independence, individuality and unique heritage.
Preserving Britain`s Independence:
But is there any true reason to believe that just a little map can do harm to Britain’s rich history or the great attractions which makes it one of the best tourist destinations in the world? Kent may be closer to Calais than to Glasgow, and Aberdeen may be closer to parts of Scandinavia than to Cornwall but this certainly doesn’t mean that these are not included as the parts of the UK. Still the fact is that, trade should be done between two locations having close and convenient access between each other than with the distant ones. But the real concern is that the English Channel would be renamed as “le Anglo-French Pond” which is likely to defame the status of the Channel by referring it as a “pond”.
