It all depends on the ferry operator with which you are travelling.

Usually kids above 16 years of age are permitted to travel alone on ferries.

However, they need to carry a letter of consent from their parents or guardian incase they are travelling with an adult.

Children under 16 years have to carry their own passport and accompanied by an adult.

If the adult is relative or guardian, the child has to bring an authorisation letter from the authorities.
